Runes

The Elder FutharkElder FuþarkOlder FutharkOld Futhark or Germanic Futhark is the oldest form of the runic alphabets. It is divided into 3 Aettir, or families of 8 runes each.

The First Aett, also known as Freya’s Aett, is associated with Middle Earth, or life on the physical plane. It is symbolic of the present state of affairs and is the land of Human, Elf, Giant, and Dwarf.

The Second Aett, known as Hagalaz’s Aett or Hagal’s Aett, is associated with the Underworld or the land of the Dead. It is symbolic of our past, karmic debt, and the opposing forces of fire and ice. It is the home of Hel, Chaos, and the Norns.

The Third Aett, known as Tyr’s Aett, is associated with Asgard, or the heavens and is the home of the Gods. It is symbolic of the future, our brightest and best; the heroine that overcomes the challenges set before her, and the dawning of a new day.
